A few years ago I was given the opportunity to try out this awesome digital scrapbooking software and I’ve gotta say, I was and still am impressed. Whenever I’m not pressed for time and I’m in a store like Target or Michaels, I find myself going down the scrapbooking aisle just wishing I had the time and patience to take on a project.
I know it would be next to impossible to lay out all my supplies and sit there with no interruptions or toddler interferences anyway so being able to do it all on the computer is right up my alley! No scissors, no glue, no toddlers touching everything! The software I’m talking about is MyMemories Suite version 8. After a couple of years now, I still love it. When I first downloaded it and starting messing around with it I didn’t think it actually offered much.
I thought the papers and embellishments were limited and that I would have to download or buy more kits. THEN I found the “purchased” folders which include all the other papers and embellishments that accompany the program. Once I realized how much it really did offer I was blown away. Definitely a huge savings in comparison to buying everything in the store and then maybe, if you’re lucky, using it all.
You can use already-made templates and just throw in your pictures or you can create your own pages from the bottom up. Change out the background paper no matter how much you’ve done to a page, rearrange, re-size, anything you want. One excellent feature is that you can actually edit your photos IN the software.
You can change the color, tone, crop, rotate, etc. all from the MyMemories Suite software. I’ve also taken a liking to the look of “torn” photo edges. I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty cheap. So when I perused around the MyMemories website, I was glad to see a section of FREE kits and templates.
A few other great things about this software are that it’s not just for making scrapbooks or photobooks. You can export your design and save it as a graphic or export to the website and create custom gifts like mouse pads, t-shirts, mugs, and more. You can also import videos or music, record a narration and then export the whole thing as a movie and put on DVD. Plus, you can have the software on up to three devices at once and is both PC and Mac compatible.
